New England Edition: Morning Glory

Lobster Roll
What's a couple to do in Gloucester, MA with a little time to kill before a whale watching trip? Well to us, New England is synonymous with lobster rolls, so we asked the lovely ladies running the ticket counter and gift shop where to grab the best lobster roll in town. Without hesitation, both of them said "Morning Glory".  So off we went down the street we went to find this adorable little diner style place on the water.

Morning Glory
The Mr. ordered the lobster roll special with fries (top photo). There were generous chunks of fresh lobster mixed with celery and a good mayo ratio on a toasted roll- the quintessential lobster roll. I ordered the Soup of the Day: Kale. Cooked in a clear broth with beans, potatoes, and little chunks of sausage which added a ton of flavor, it was everything I hoped for.

Morning Glory is clearly a favorite of visitors and locals alike, with plenty of local charm and solid cafe food. It's nothin' fancy, just a great spot if you find yourself in need of breakfast or lunch in Gloucester, MA.

Oh and as for the whale watching? We saw a minke whale, a few seals and tons of humpbacks. For a while, we got to chill with five humpbacks and a pod of 20-30 Atlantic striped dolphins all hanging out together. We were so close that we got sprayed by blow and discovered firsthand that being covered by whale's breath and mucus is decidedly not a magical experience. Still, it was pretty neat and overall an absolutely incredible trip! Can't recommend 7 Seas Whale Watch highly enough!
