John Dory Aces It

We were in the mood for oysters tonight so decided it was time to check out John Dory's Oyster Bar. Since it was impromptu, we didn't have reservations and put our name on the list. Then we jetted over to The Breslin to grab a drink and a snack while we waited. By the way, this is absolutely the way to do it. The timing of this was perfect.

Scotch Eggs

We had been to The Breslin for brunch before, but never in the evening. We thoroughly enjoyed our cocktails and our Scotch Eggs. Not familiar with a Scotch Egg? Let me save you the extra Google step: "Scotch egg, also known as an egg devil, consists of a hard-boiled egg wrapped in sausage meat, coated in breadcrumbs and deep-fried."

Haha, yep, that's right. This is definitely an "occasional" food.

Oysters
After we finished our snack we headed back to John Dory and our table was being cleared. We started with, of course, the oysters. Fresh and fantastic!

Lobster
For the main course, we did it up big and ordered the lobster. We were very tempted by the special, but decided to just go straight up. It was served with a side of potato salad which we really enjoyed- large potato wedges and very mustardy.

We really enjoyed this impromptu date night. We had a great server, the food was delicious, and the ambience was trendy & romantic. The only damper on the experience is that it got loud. So be warned if you are hoping to have a great conversation.
