Gotta go to Co.

I've been hearing fantastic things about Co. forever, but it took me an embarrassingly long time  to put two-and-two together and realize that "Co" is that place across the street from my apartment that has the big "Company" sign outside. Oh boy, good one. Now we had absolutely no excuse to get our tuckuses here ASAP. And so we did.

We started with the veal meatballs served in homemade marinara with truccione sare (rustic country bread) and butter. Lordy, lordy, thems some goooood meatballs.

With such a great start to our meal, we were really excited to get to the main event: our pizza! We couldn't resist the appeal of the Mushroom & Jalapeno Pie with bechamel, pecorino, gruyere, garlic confit, shiitake, cremini AND oyster mushrooms with shaved jalapeno and fresh dill. Check this bad boy out:

The crust was fantastic, but I'll admit, a little too blackened in some places for my taste.  That was where my criticism ends though. The mushrooms were meaty and earthy and the jalapeno and dill added fun flavor profiles, but were so fresh that they didn't overpower the mushroom. Never fear, non-spice lovers, the jalapenos were not that spicy.

Here's the only problem with having a fantastic pizza place across the street from you- everyone else knows about it too! We would eat here all the time, but alas, there is usually a bit of a wait- so we'll have to save it for days when we aren't famished.
