Everything's Working for Employees Only

Employees Only: Mata Hari
As a big lover of high quality speakeasies Employees Only has been on my 'must visit' list for quite some time now. On a whim, we decided to have a little Monday night adventure to kick off the week. We found the neon Psychic sign in the West Village window and walked by the actual psychic who sits in the foyer into another world.

To kick off the evening we ordered two drinks off of the "Fancy Cocktails" portion of the menu, because, hey, we're fancy people. The Mr ordered the Quiet Storm - Bulleit Bourbon & Red Bush Tea-infused Bianco, Vermouth served tall with Fresh Lemon Juice & Ginger Beer. I ordered the Mata Hari - Pierre Ferrand Ambre Cognac shaken with Chai-infused Italian Vermouth & Pomegranate Juice. How could they leave off the small detail that this delcious cocktail is served with rosebuds!?

However, not only is Employees Only renowned for the fanciful work of their mixologists, but also the output of their kitchens. We three dishes off of the appetizer menu:

Bacon wrapped Lamb Chops $16
Salsa Verde.

Ricotta Gnocchi $12
Shitake & Asparagus.

Bone Marrow Poppers $11
Pastry Shell & Bordelaise

Employees Only: Bacon Wrapped Lamp Chops
Brown Bread & Creme Fraiche

Employees Only: Bone Marrow Poppers

Employees Only: Ricotta Gnocchi

All were delicious little snacks to go with our cocktails. Speaking of cocktails, it was time for our second round. This time up, The Mr went for a good old fashioned Old Fashioned. This time, I tried the Amelía - Aylesbury Duck Vodka & St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur shaken with puréed
Blackberries & Fresh Lemon Juice.

Employees Only: Old Fashioned & Amelia

This was a delightful visit and I'm so glad to have come on a Monday evening where we could enjoy it peacefully without a long wait or the busy crowds that come with the weekend.
