St. Andrews |
After picking up some last minute tickets for The Realistic Joneses at the TKTS booth we needed a nearby spot to grab dinner. A quick search of the nearby vicinity pulled up
St. Andrews Scottish Restaurant & Bar. Since we've recently returned from a trip to Scotland, we've been scouting out all the Scottish culture (& Scotch) that we can get our hands on in NYC.
The downstairs is a traditional pub style, but upstairs is a rather nice dining room with white linens and a more sophisticated menu. However, you can also order off the Grill menu up here which was a huge relief since their Scotch Egg is featured only on the grill menu. However, sadly for us, they were out of the Scotch Egg tonight.

St. Andrews: Cornmeal Crusted Fried Oysters |
We consoled ourselves with an order of Mini Burgers, Corneal Crusted Fried Oysters, Buffalo Crispy Calamari, and Roasted Duck Breast. Way too much food to be sure - especially considering the Calamari was served in a boat. We washed all of this down with a dram of Scapa 10yr and Jura Prophesy and then whisked away off to our show.
This was a nice solid find especially considering its proximity to Times Square and a great pre-theatre option.
